Is a diagnosis needed? 

A diagnosis is not always needed, but it can be helpful for understanding challenges and accessing the correct support. Increasing numbers of adults self-identify with neurodivergent conditions and make the required adjustments to how they best manage different scenarios. If an adult feels they may benefit from medical therapies or a diagnosis would impact adjustments at their work, they may choose to pursue that. Children and young people and more likely to be referred for assessment for a diagnosis, due to the impact of many areas of their development. Allied health professionals and educational specialists may become part of the ongoing assessment and reviews as they develop.
