A diagnosis is not always needed, but it can be helpful for understanding challenges and accessing the correct support. Increasing numbers of adults self-identify with neurodivergent conditions and make the required adjustments to how they best manage different scenarios. If an adult feels they may benefit from medical therapies or a diagnosis would impact adjustments at their work, they may choose to pursue that. Children and young people and more likely to be referred for assessment for a diagnosis, due to the impact of many areas of their development. Allied health professionals and educational specialists may become part of the ongoing assessment and reviews as they develop. We can help you understand your needs and create strategies to make progress whatever your choice.
It may be due to increased awareness and media attention, meaning that people become more exposed to different formats to help them understand neurodivergence and challenges that can be experienced. When people struggle in certain environments, they can look at ways to improve that and get the support they need to thrive. It can be helpful in certain scenarios to seek an assessment for a neurodivergent condition to understand challenges, needs, and what support is available. We can help with the assessment process, identifying needs, and providing support and education.
Neurodiversity refers to the variability in all our brains and how they function. We are all different, and experience things differently. Neurodivergent differences are diagnosed when a person is impacted in their daily living and functioning due to their differences.
